Late August has arrived, and the bite off the Southeastern Wisconsin shoreline is in full late-summer transition mode. Stable offshore winds have maintained a distinct thermocline, packing heavy concentrations of alewives into deep water and setting up ideal conditions for aggressive pre-spawn predators. We are fully committed to deep-water trolling patterns—deploying weighted wire divers, 300- to 450-foot copper setups, and massive flasher/fly spreads. Mature Kings are pushing into peak weight ahead of their run, while Rainbow Trout and Coho are keying on upper-water-column spreads out deep.
Milwaukee Report: Aggressive Flasher-Fly & Deep Copper Spreads
Boats out of Milwaukee are continuing their success by pushing out to 100 to 160 feet of water and targeting fish suspended in the 70 to 130 foot zone. The flasher and fly program remains king on downriggers, with 11-inch chrome and white plastic flashers paired with Bullfrog, Pickled Sunshine, or Howie flies producing heavy hits from staging mature Kings. On the outer boards, 300 to 450-foot copper lines pulling high-vis Moonshine spoons in Super Slim and Wonder Bread patterns are pulling massive Lake Trout off the bottom and picking up rogue Steelhead cruising the temperature breaks.
Racine Report: Deep Drop-Offs & Offshore Mixed Bags
Trolling out of Racine remains highly productive along the sharp structure and offshore drops in 130 to 200 feet of water. Wire Dipsy Divers set out 175 to 270 feet with green/gold flashers and meat rigs or flies are managing the mid-depth salmon bite with high efficiency. Out on top, short leadcore setups running high-action spoons are firing off on energetic Steelhead and late-run Coho. Dropping heavy dodger-and-peanut-fly gear directly to deep structure continues to yield easy multi-fish limits of Lake Trout to round out successful trips.
Lake Michigan Outlook
As August comes to a close, mature King Salmon are reaching their absolute maximum size before staging near harbors and tributaries for the fall run. Our premium Tiara Yachts, Leader and Leader II, are out daily tracking these moving schools with up-to-date Sonar and offshore electronics. Prime weekend availability for the remainder of the season is almost entirely filled, but select weekday charter slots remain open for anglers looking to land a trophy fish before the late-summer bite shifts into fall.
